With The Moody Blues winding down a run of U.S. tour dates prior to embarking on their second annual fan cruise this Wednesday, frontman Justin Hayward has just announced plans to hit the road solo in May and June.  The month-long trek is scheduled to begin with a May 13 show in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and is mapped out through a June 13 performance in Richmond, Canada.

Hayward’s tour is in support of his latest solo album, Spirits of the Western Sky , which was released in February 2013.  The outing includes stops in New York, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon and Washington.

As for The Moodies, they will play a handful of shows in Florida before launching the Moody Blues Cruise II , which features an all-star lineup that includes The Who ‘s Roger Daltrey , The Zombies , Starship , Carl Palmer , Little River Band and many more.  The event, which sets sail from Miami and visits Grand Turk Island and the Bahamas, runs until April 7.

The Moody Blues also have four more spring shows before Hayward kicks off his solo trek — a May 7-9 stand in Westbury, New York, and a May 10 concert in Boston.  In addition, the band has mapped out a series of late-summer U.S. dates, running from an August 4 stop in Saratoga Springs, New York, until a September 4-5 engagement in Highland Park, Illinois.
